Lisa D. Powell, Ph.D.

Lisa Powell is Professor of Theology at St. Ambrose University. She specializes in systematic and liberation theologies within the Christian tradition. Her most recent book, The Disabled God Revisited: Trinity, Christology, and Liberation (T&T Clark 2023), explores the idea that God is disabled through the person of the Son, drawing from the theology of Karl Barth and various forms of liberation theology. Her current research, tentatively titled The Vulnerable Creator, furthers this investigation through the doctrines of creation and redemption, and is under contract with Baker Academic. She is also writing Disability and Theology: An Introduction for the Engaging Theology Series with Routledge.
