Lisa D. Powell, Ph.D.

Lisa Powell is Professor of Theology and Director of the Justice, Diversity, and Gender Studies Program at St. Ambrose University. She specializes in systematic and liberation theologies within the Christian tradition. Her most recent book, The Disabled God Revisited: Trinity, Christology, and Liberation (T&T Clark 2023), explores the idea that God is disabled through the person of the Son, drawing from the theology of Karl Barth and various forms of liberation theology. Her current research furthers this investigation through the doctrines of creation and redemption.
